Composer Academy 2025 Application Form -

Composer Academy 2025 Application Form

We are delighted to announce that Daniel Kidane will be back as the Academy Director for 2025. In 2019, the BBC Symphony Orchestra premiered his work Woke at the Last Night of the Proms and Daniel has written music for a range of artists from harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Chineke! and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

In 2025, we will be welcoming vocal ensemble, The Carice Singers, with conductor George Parris as our resident musicians. As part of Composer Academy, successful applicants will compose a piece of music that is up to 5 minutes long and for unaccompanied solo vocal ensemble (SATB, maximum 4 parts, plus conductor), with a range of E2-C6.

Please note that should you feel unable to apply using the form below, please contact music@cheltenhamfestivals.org and we will do all that we can to accommodate your application.

Participants will need to be residing in the UK during Composer Academy.

Equality Monitoring

Cheltenham Festivals is committed to principles of equality, diversity and inclusion as set out in our Equality Policy. It is important for us to have an accurate picture of the diversity of artists, speakers and participants across all its Festivals. This is why this short survey asks questions about ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, age, gender and sexual orientation.

The information we collect is held confidentially and anonymised. We will never release information that could potentially identify individuals by any characteristic, and we safeguard the confidentiality of all our artists and speakers.

This survey is not an advocacy tool but does support us in securing essential funding from funders including Arts Council England, so please complete it as honestly and accurately as you can.
